Trouble Understanding the Master/Slave for Hard Drive

I am a first time builder and looking over how to put everything together. The one thing I do not understand however, is the master/slave relationship that is talked about.

Here is the hard drive I am going to use (Just using one)

Since I only have one, do I even need to adjust anything for this when I get the hard drive?

SATA doesn't use Master/Slave. That used to be for IDE connections; for multiple devices that were on the same IDE port on the motherboard. With SATA, no need to worry about that, since only 1 device plugs into each SATA data connector on the motherboard (usually start with SATA0, and go up to however many ports it has).
