I am using Windows XP Professional V.5.1.2600 SP3.0
I am trying to extract photos from my camera's memory card, using a card reader. Normally, when I plug it in a window pops up & asks me what to do next.
Can someone please tell me what to do next?
I can plug in my flash player and it recognises it, what's going on? It worked last time I plugged it in.
Help

Thanks

Sylvia

Jason, thanks for that little reminder. Hadn't thought of that. Was a bit stressed out at the time.
That's why you're a 'super-techie' and I'm only a lowly 'newbie-techie' at my advanced age. You have a good memory!! lol....
I hope it lasts, and doesn't disappear when you get to my age.
Thanks once again for that....and Merry Christmas...

Sylvia

We troubleshoot card readers are work. The main things are to unplug the USB connection, wait about 10 seconds, and then plug it back in (in a different port if you can).

Windows sometimes forgets the USB ports (especially in XP). If you open up My Computer and the reader does not show up when you plug it in, or does not vanish when you unplug it, then Windows has forget. A reboot will get it all up and running again.
