i'm putting together my computer and I'm not sure whether to go with the ever-popular socket 478 cpu and mobo or the new socket 775. The 775 will run me quite a bit more for the mobo especially and the cheaper 915 chipsets do not support AGP 8x, only PCI-Ex. Which should I go with? I'm not planning on getting DDR2 memory, and the 478 mobo I'm looking at DOES support Dual Channel. Which socket type should i go with?

I suggest against getting an Intel processor ATM, they're a good processor, but the Athlon 64's in socket 939 will do you better, because they can process 64-bit and they give better gaming performance
as for socket 775 verses 478, socket 775 is more future proof, but more expensive.
