Hey all, First I have never attempted a build before so this will be all new to me.

My Current system is an AlienWare Area 51 that was purchased back in 2006. After having the OS upgraded to Win 7/64Bit and a new GTX 550Ti (2GB Vrs) with 4GB or RAM installed the guys at the counter said the only thing holding me back was my processor. So I started thinking of a New Build or possibly just upgrading my old case with a new Motherboard/CPU.

I am wanting to use my Powersource from the Alienware if possible? HIPRO HP-W700WC3 LF 700W Newegg.com - HIPRO HP-W700WC3 LF 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Power Supply - Power Supplies but am not sure it would be compatible with the motherboard...True NOOB LOL.

Please offer any suggestions/Cost Savings that I could get. Or any upgrades you think might be usefull. I intend on using this system for ONLY gaming and SW TOR is my targetted MMO.

What i am currently looking at.

Case: Antec Lanboy Air Red Black / Red Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Case $139.99

CPU Cooler: COOLER MASTER V6 GT $50.99
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER V6 GT RR-V6GT-22PK-R1 120mm DynaLoop CPU Cooler w/ Universal bracket & Dual Fan

If I can't use my current PSU I am looking at the following.

PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 550W $69.99
Newegg.com - OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Modular Gaming Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom

I really appreciate any help you all can provide. I think I did a decent job of making sure compatability wasn't an issue with all of the items I choose for the build!

I would put my max budget right around 850....but any savings I can keep would be great.

This rig is going to be primarily for Online Gaming. I have other computers in the house I use for day to day activities.

The MMO I am gearing this towards is the Star Wars: The Old Republic.

With your budget I would save money by switching to the i5 2500K. The Corsair Vengeance memory with the tall heatspreaders will have interference problems with the Cooler Master V6, I would go with the Low Profile Corsair Vengeance or a set of G.Skill Ripjaws.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9

Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

Yeah, that V6 GT will not work with corsair vengence ram.

Take Slaymate's advice

With downgrading the Chipset to the to the I5 and saving 110 dollars....

What about switching out the CPU Heatsink to the Corsair H100 Liquid Cooling system?

I have been researching this stuff most of the day LOL...and had a lot of fun doing it. A buddy of mine mentioned the H100 and after watching install videos it doesn't worry me as much as it did.

Thanks for the answers so far...its really helping me out!

ive read that the lanboy gets chocked with dust pretty quickly... the whole case it basically one big dust filter... seems like a lot of up keep... its a cool case, cool idea... just too expensive in my opinion. if the OP wants to go with the lanboy, its his computer, go for it mate! i was just giving my opinion.

same thing for the mobo, i lean more towards MSI products than Asus's

I want to say THANKS all....you are all giving me great feedback.

Sean W... After reading your posts I would second guess the Lanboy...for the dust reasons and the cost of the other. The Corsair is a nice looking case!

I am thinking I will keep the ASUS Mobo....

But if I already have the GTX 550TI 2GB superclocked version then I am thinking I am still well within price range to get the SSD. My original HD worries me but it already has Win 7 on it. I also found a brand new in the box EIDE 500 GB WD Caviar SE HD that I bought back in the day. Reading the PC requirements and me being such a noob...could I use this in the new build?

Again I thank you all...your really helpin me out here and my confidence is skyrocketing after I read all your responses on my First Build!!
