I will use the PC for games, graphic design, cad design
would someone please check the compatibility of the components

I feel i am competent enough to assemble the pieces but my proficiency with computer hardware ends there.

Everything is compatible.

Few suggestions:
1) Instead of buying a 16GB kit you can get the same amount in 8GB (2x4GB) kits for $25 less (here).
2) Stock that Gelid cooler looks like it performs well, but I'd consider the Hyper 212 EVO (here) since you can slap two fans on it for more cooling.
3) Are you sure the price is correct on the SSD? Google shopping thinks you might be missing a 1 before the 79. If it is closer to 180 than 80 I'd say look at SATA III Drives, know you can get a 120GB OCZ Vertex/Agility 3 or Corsair Force 3 for around that price.
