Laptop wireless cards

I think I know the answer, but I just need to confirm.

Does any wireless card, that is mini-PCI, fit in any laptop? That has a Mini-PCI slot, of course.

Because I have a bad Brodcom wireless card on a laptop, and I want to change to an Atheros card, being that I'm putting Linux on it.

I think you can, any confirmation on that?
