Long time to post , but i allways come here for some good input . Im looking to iether upgrade or is it time for a build . Not as savy as i used to be on the cutting edge but gaming performance is allways high priority. If your going to game then do it in right.Would a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505 Yorkfield 2.83GHz LGA 775 along with , WIN 7 , an SSD drive be beefy enough for BF3 / Skyrim ?
Looks like $800.00 . Ive tossed around a new build around $2000.00 but not sure there would be much of performance/$ in the gaming relm.
Thanks for looking

Gaming performance is going to rely heavily on the GPU you get.

If your going to game then do it in right.
If you're going to do it right get a current gen CPU.
On Newegg the Q9505 is more expensive than an i5 2500k, so why not go that route.

I agree at a certain point you're spending $ on minimal performance increases.
I'd say ~$1,250-1,500 would be the sweet spot for a build that will keep a gamer happy.

you can get a SLI 570 rig with a Intel 2500k for right around $1400-$1500 that will beast through anything you can throw at it.

Well for 400$ above an upgrade i could get this , makes more sense to build considering the upgrade path on outdated stuff anyway.
