Geforce FX 5500 OC

What are your thoughts on this card? Have you had any trouble running any programs. What impact does pixel pipelining have on performance? How does it compare to any other cards you've used? Any help would be appreciated.

It's a mainstream model, just like the FX5200.

yeah, the mainstream models aren't really meant for hardcore graphic rendering. They started that at the 5700 series (glad I got that ) and personally my 5700 runs pretty damn good... I would suspect the lower series to be far worse though

i tried out a BFG 5500 OC in a P4 2.53 system .I was able to play BF1942 with 1.6 patch and DC 1.7 at low settings . The only test i used was 3Dmark01 with a score of 5800 .It played videos rather well .In a class from 1-10 id give it a 4.

I wouldn't get the FX 5500. If you want a mainstreem model, wait for the GeForce 6200. It has so much more performance. If not, a 6600GT or X700 would do very well.

Agreed The 6200 would completely annhiliate (<-- butchered that spelling) the FX 5200, but both in terms of REAL performance technically suck, the 6200 is the mainstream model, the 6600 is the performance model and the 6800 is the 'Enthusiasts' which basically they should rename to 'NERDS!' model
