Mabe similar no screen?

I was thinking mabe that someone could help me thinking if macs are similar to a pc. We just bought 512 generic ram and put it into a power mac g3 and started it up and it read that it was there. So i restarted and started to install mac OSx then it froze with 2 minutes left so i had to restart it . When it restarted the screen was a transparent pink but you could still c the startup and i clicked install again and it said there was a problem with the previous installation please restart. Ounce i did that the screen is now completely black it shows power becuase the light is on but it does not start the launch preccess, it just sits there with a black screen.

I think if it says there's an error with the previous installation u might have to initialize your drive.

If that doesn't work you should check for your video and RAM.
