I got a new heatsink and to install it I have to take the back plate off the MB. Now the thing is, the new1 has a nice plastic back plate very well made. The old1 (it is not old, it is a new MB) is quality stainless steel with a nice heavy teflon gasket between the MB and the plate. Now... which one to use?
Which would be better for cooling the CPU? The metal would absorbe the heat, but it would also store the heat. The plastic, well I donot know. Which is better?

As long as the heatsink is mounted correctly it shouldn't be an issue. I would suggest using the backplate that comes with heatsink. What heatink are you installing?

ASUS Arctic Square, I went with the plate that came with the MB. Thanks
