IBM A22M Series ThinkPad Type 2652 notebook/laptop. worth upgrading?

Okay so i am currently working information technology/computer repair guy at a non profit organization. we came across an old old old ibm thinkpad a22m series type 2652. i need to know if i can upgrade this to at least 1 gb of ram and maybe a larger hard drive. but since i do not know currently what is in there. im thinking we can upgrade it and make it work with xp, or even linux to run through some of our programs but i wanted to ask you guys what you thought i should do. scrap it or upgrade it?

The drive is most likely IDE. What do you currently have and what do you want to upgrade it to?

i want to be able to upgrade it to a newer faster hard drive. and the ram. and install service pack 3. but i doesnt seem to respond to any cd i put into the optical disk drive

You most likely have to set Boot Priority in BIOS.
