PSU Question

[Caution]

I have an i5 2500k processor and I see some of the power supplies say they are compatible with the i3/i5/i7 processors. Does that mean that ones that do not say they are, are not compatible?

I have these parts.

i5 2500k
Asus P8P67 Pro (Rev 3.1)
Gtx 560 ti (might go 570)

Could/Should I go cheap and save money on a PSU such as this one?

If no, which one could I get if I planned on saving some money on my PSU?

No, PSUs are not CPU specific. Manufacturer's just put it on there to entice people.

Never get cheap on a PSU, if it frys you could fry your whole system.
I'd go OCZ ZS 750W, or if you can swing it the Corsair TX750 V2.

You can actually run your system on a smaller power supply (~500W), but I'm assuming you want headroom for possible SLi?

Yhou realize 90% of people have no clue, or need for sli....

But you should NEVER cheapout on a power supply.

Yes i'm leaving some room for possibilities mostly. I just think more towards the longevity factor over the actual needs.

Another question, I would like to know if getting a RAM with a 7 cas rating is worth the extra money you have to spend over just getting a 9 cas rating one for almost half the price. I guess I hardly understand the difference.

If overcvlockikng yes, you get some overhead when ovrclocking with 7.
