Was playing Dragon Age Origins, after a few hours my CPU spiked, thus the game began lagging.

My specs:

AMD Phenom II x4 Deneb
HIS HD 5770
G. Skill Ripjaws (8GB)
OCZ ModXstrem Pro 650w PSU
ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO MOBO
Cavalier Black 750GB HDD

I don't think there's a reason it should be doing this. Does it happen normally? CPU was running 44c when it happened, but was almost maxed. GPU was running 44c as well, was only at maybe 50% usage though. Dragon Age known for memory leaks or something?

EDIT:

Just did a thorough cleaning of my PC as well. No viruses or anything.

did you notice which processes were using the most cpu time? I wouldnt think this is a memory leak. memory leak are typically found by noticing large amounts of memory in use by a app.

is all software and drivers up to date?

Drivers are up to date.

As well as software.

ATI Catalyst was just updated as well.

Dragon Age was using the most processing requirements. Nearly all of it.
