Hdd keeps disappearing from Windows after sleep mode.

Recently installed a secondary SATA internal hard drive . Only problem is that whenever the computer is left and goes into sleep mode then come back and re-activate the secondary hdd is no longer visible in windows under computer. typing d:\ into the navigation bar doesn't find it either. It always re-appears and works absolutely fine after re-booting windows.

My machine is a fairly new dell inspiron running windows 7 64-bit.

Have currently disabled sleep mode to stop from happening but would like to enable it again to save electricity. Please does anyone have any ideas as I haven't got a clue why this is happening.

open computer management (right click computer, click manage)

open event viewer (or whatever its called now)

view system logs, look for errors

you may need to recreate the issue to have a newer error log entry created. this makes it easier to find.
