Been out of the game for a while, need an upgrade for BF3. Thoughts?

Hey guys,

I havent been keeping up with computers since I built my computer back in 2008. Heres my build;

Corsair 620HX PSU
Q6600 @ 3.2ghz
maximus formula motherboard
vista 64 premium w/ 6 gigs of DDR2 Ram
9800GX2
32" 1380x768
128 gig SSD

I have some money to spend and want to play this game maxed out. If you guys have any simple suggestions for upgrades to get more performance out of my rig I would love to here it

First Question.

How much you got to spend?

Don't think anyone has specifics yet on what will max out BF3 since it hasn't been released.

You could snag a GTX570/80, but I'm pretty sure your CPU would bottleneck it, even if slightly.
I know your PSU could handle a 570, 580 might stress it a little too much w/ the CPU OC.

I would say for now maybe 5-600$ Like Roark mentioned its hard to say what will max out BF3 as the game has yet to be released. i just dont want to invest in an expensive computer part to find out that some other component is just going to bottleneck it

I would go with Roark's suggestion, at least to start with. Get a high-end GRX card (and possibly a PSU if yours is not up to the task). Once BF3 is out you can see whether the Q6600 is going to be able to keep up or not. If it can't then you can see about upgrade your CPU/mobo/RAM then.
