quick question i gutted my case tonight planning to spray the inside tomorrow.

Is it necessary to sand the inside of the case before painting? like with 220 sp or scuff pads or steel wool?

Ive heard its necessary but i have also heard people who didn't do it had no problems as long as its clean.

i mean there are sooo many little areas and corners and what not on the inside of the case do you really sand every little spot?

Personally, I rub it down really good with rubbing alcohol, then use a self etching primer on it till I have a decent coat, then go to regular spray paint. I might lightly wet sand between coats, if I feel like spending all day on it. But if you do very light coats of primer and regular spray paint you should be fine. Just remember to mask off what you don't want painted, keep the coats even, and go at it slowly, you will get a decent finish. Self Etching primer does what it says, it etches the metal and sticks to it very well.
