This is just hypothetical, but could i soldier together, and make a usb flash drive?
like all the way down to the micro chips and stuff.

could I do it or would I need a factory slodering machine?

(I don't care about size, just that I can fit it in my usb port)

Thanks,
Ewan.

Have you ever opened a USB flash drive? Taking the plastic off? There's a lot of circuitry in there. That is, if you start from scratch. It's kind of hard.

Believe it would be beyond the ability of the average user. You would not need machine grate soldering equipment but you would need a lot of knowledge with circuit boards. If you want a flash drive smaller than a cassette player you will need to use factory grade equipment.

Actually, if you REALLY wanted, you COULD hand make one using a few billion actual capacitors/transistors, and some other various parts, but expect it to be uber slow, have LITTLE data storage, and about nothing else at all.

Other than that, yea you can make small ones, but would require an engineering degree or something, a lot of flash drives use 6-12 layer PCBs.
