So I just got 12 gigs of ram today with a SSD. I installed the memory and the SSD install windows on the hardrive but now my pc is running hotter than before. My cpu is idoling at 55 degrees and my video card is also running around 50 degrees and it also shows my GPU as 750 megs of ram as opposed to 1.2 gigs. It's a 5870 by the way. Anyone have any ideas?

Was your CPU this hot, prior to installing the RAM and SSD?

The graphic card is fine, as far as heat. My 5770 is at 49C on idle. Your GPU speed spins down while not using graphic intensive programs. It will speed up when you need it.

I'm not sure what to look for when it comes to voltages either.

Sorry about that

This just makes no sense i"m sitting here and it's still at 55~ degrees

There are a lot of threads about the i7 9xx chips running hot, 55°c+ like yours.
General consensus is as long as it stays below 70-75°c under load its fine.

I'm with Paton, blame the extra RAM.
You can always test it by removing the 6GB you added and checking temps w/ the original 6GB.

If you're really worried about it I'd do some additional cooling.
Aftermarket CPU cooler, make sure your cable's aren't blocking air-flow, and add more case fans if you have room for them.
