Does anyone know of a good freeware program (sans spyware) that can open .rar archives?

i have a questions.
what is the different between .rar archives and .zip files?
i have both Winzip and Winrar to open these files.
but i am very confused about the differences.

The basic differences lie in the algorithm that the two software uses for compressing files and folders.

Nuthing more, both should compress files, but rar compressions are better than zip compressions.

StuffitX is a great program that has higher compression ratios than .rar or .zip's by far. I can't remember the site for it though, you could probably find it on google.

RAR files can be chained together to allow you to divide a download up into several parts, then peice them back together with a single run.

RAR is more widely supported, too.

I wish RAR support was built into XP's Zip archive options...
No, because if WinRAR and the RAR format were integrated into Windows, people would have a problem with it. :freak:
