well this is the first time in a LONG while that nvidia is actually ahead of ATI... in the past few generations of video cards.. especailly comparing the 9xxx generation vs the 5xxx generation cards.. ati was seriously ahead of the game

Nvidia had to rush production of the 5xxx cards, before they were relying on their Geforce 4 Ti cards to compete with the Radeon 9xxx cards
Nvidia have swung back nicely with this generation of cards
if either ATI or Nvidia started making yet another, better card, it would cripple the other company

so one year nvidia's better and the next ati is better and then nvidia is better etc?
That's basically how the market works, each has to compete hard as hell and spend a fortune into trying and beating the otherone out ya know? I don't know about ATI being WAY ahead of the game because my FX 5700 256mb card keeps up just as good as a 9600XT 256mb in an AMD64 system, but most benchmarks say that ATI outperformed nvidia last generation, but ATI tends to have a lot of drivers issues and like it's already been said, nvidia has support for both shader 3.0 and DirectX 9.0c

ATI is definatley on the rebound there next generation card will be a killer . " At least in theory " who knows it could bomb like the FX dust buster hehe. But make no mistake they are deffinately working on a state of the art piece of hardware as is Nvidia.
As good as these High end cards are there still no where close to were the Software/Code writers and Manufactures are heading. We only see a small piece of the big picture..Stay tuned :)
