budget gpu for average gamer

hi all. iam getting an i3 2100 and want to get a good budget card to go with it. i will be gaming on a 19" 720p lcd screen with native resolution of 1366x768. i want to be able to play current and upcoming games (like the witcher 2, bf3, starcraft2, crysis2, ect).

i dont mind lowering the resolution (to 1024×768) or the graphics as long as i can play and it still looks good.

so what would u recommend? thanks

Whats your budget? As a budget gpu to some is $200+ and others its $50.

Also what is your power supply |watts and Amps? That effects the desicion too.

BF3 recommends a GTX 460 / HD6850
Crysis 2 recommends a GTX 280 / HD4870 (optimum GTX 560Ti / HD6850)

Depends on what your budget is and what kind of power supply you have.
Check the graphics performance list, GTX460 is #19, I wouldn't suggest anything below that... as long as you have the juice to run it.

thanks patonb. i havent decided on a psu yet, i thought i'd get a gpu 1st then look at the +12V rail amps issue. i havent set a budget for the card yet but lets go with £80

For that budget, youre getting a gts 450 or a 6770.

Forf those you'll need about a 500-550W psu, which'll run another 50-60quid for a quality Antec.
