Can't get machine to work. Monitor won't fire up. Please help.

ok. finally found it!!

the brass screw holders that go down before the motherboard.

I had put to many of them down, more than were necessary for this particular motherboard. so i'm guessing they were contacting the bottom of the MB in places it shouldn't have been touched.

so yeah i'm all good now, after taking those extra ones out.

Well the motherboard grounding out is very common, but I figured since he'd replaced the board and all that if that was the case it would have been fixed....never thought that he had perhaps attached too many metal studs...cause yeah.....I'm sure it was definitely touching a couple solder points. Glad you got it working though
 
hehe, that kills me... all thi sugessing suggestions of gutting the system to test individually... and it was a screw problem.
