Side note, if you search HD 5770 on Newegg it pulls up the 6770s as well.
It looks like they have the same clock speeds and # of processors.
Anyone know what the real difference is between them?

Check out the power supply recommendation list and the GPU ranking lists to make informed choices. I have two 5770's - good cards for the $$. I am in your area so could help if needed to change the PSU and the GPU out - I did it with my HP about a year ago.

Thanks for all the help and support guys. So generally speaking the ATI Radeon 5770/6770 seem to be the best choice right now? It seems that many of you recommend it.

A.) ****the pci 2.0 cards WILL fit in a 1.0 slot correct?

B.) do i need to find a card that is DDR3 Ram equal? because thats whats in my CPU

Also, do you prefer fan cooled, or passive cooled? def want something thats quiet. the 5770 seems to be out of my price range, but the 6770 is more inside my budget.

what about matching the RAM? is that a necessity

i keep seeing disclaimers for people saying watch for the 6-pins? what does that mean?

I'm novice. Thanks to everyone for the support and feedback.

acerinpa can you pm me your email, that would be great!

Matching ram isn't necessary. Current cards use GDDR5 and highest motherboard ram, currently, is DDR3.

6-pins are the power connectors, some cards need 1 or 2 of from the PSU to get power, some older/lower watt PSUs might not have them.

6 and 6+2 power connectors
