New PSU Smell or...

So I built a new comp:

-AMD Phenom x4 @ 3.4
-Radeon HD 5770 Hawk
-2 x 2 Gigabyte Gskillz 12800 (9-9-9-24) @ 1600
-MSI 880GM-35
-APEVIA X-QBOII X-QBOII-NW-AL/500 Black / Silver SECC Steel MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case with 500W Power Supply.

I was playing WoW Max settings on dual accounts (just leveling to 20) and I started to smell a slight hint of something funny (plastic like) the smell sort of dissipated, but I was wondering if I should just play it safe and get a bigger psu (600 maybe?) or if I am overreacting to a new gaming rig smell.

You don't need a bigger power supply, you just need a good power supply. Junk the Apevia and buy a Corsair or a Antec.

+1 You just need a quality one, not any higher Wattage.

Have a look into this one, I think that will support your setup plus more and still not worry about psu going kaboom on you during the summer.

However though I recommend you do not stress out your new setup during the summer time heat, stuff does happen accidentl.
