cf HD 6870'S or a singl 6970?

Which would be better in the short term for an upgrade for battlefield 3? I'm really eyeing the 68XX series cards as far as price/performance is concerned. My specs are a Phenom ll x6 1100t oc to 4.0 ghz on air with thermaltake v8. 8gb of g-skill sniper ddr3 1600. Xfx pro series 750w psu. Asrock 990fx am3 mobo in an antec 300. Any suggestions are welcomed! Please no nvidia suggestions. I've been down the nvidia route and amd is ftw for me

2x 6870s are much better than a single 6970 performance wise.

I would go with the (2) 6870's. If something goes wrong with one of the gpu's and you have 2 cards you can still play on with the remaining card. If one of the gpu's on the 6970 craps out your not playing until you get a replacement.

There is only one on the 6970, You're thinking of the 6990 Slay .
