New here, and need a little help with upgrading my very outdayed pc

Sure would hate to see an unused stick of ram lying around on my desk haha. I decided to go with this kit:

So in order for me to have 16GB or ram i'd have to purchase two of these kits correct? Not that i'll ever need that much.

Yes, two of those kits will give you 16GB, but that is overkill. Even the 8GB will almost never be fully used.

when it comes to RAM, people think that if you get more it will last for years to come but as the need for size grows the RAM will change, bigger frequencies, different clock, etc so stick with 4 GB and you will be good for pretty much every game out there today

I have no idea what you just said, except for the last bit. Btw, I had 4GB on my last system and it was occasionally not enough.

Was trying to say that for gaming 4GB will be fine and that buying 8 GB or 16 GB will not garranty that your machine will be relevant RAM wise later on

The only reason I am running 8GB instead of 4GB is because one set of 2x2GB was free due to me reviewing them. I could drop to 4GB and have no problem running anything I do.
