Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can help out. I have a Vaio laptop, VGN-FZ38M model.
I tried playing a blu ral today and discovered that the drive won't read them.
according to the device manager the drive is an optiarc BC-5500A BD ROM though the device description lists it as a DC/DVD drive, yet drive F: is listed as a BD-ROM drive.
According to the Vaio support site, there is no seperate driver for the optical drive on these models. I've downloaded an available firmware update to see if this would help, but recognising it only as a CD/DVD-ROM drive will not apply the updated firmware!
It's handling CD & DVDs fine and it also tells me the driver is functioning properly.
There's also no restore point whereby it's working.
Anyone got any advice on how to go about sorthing this out ?

Thanks!

Go into your device manage for you drive and under the drivers tab, see if their is a rollback option...if yes, try that.

You could try and uninstall the driver and reboot the computer and let Windows auto install their generic drivers to see if it will work.
