I have an older custom-builted computer circa 2001. Has a 1.6GHz Pentium 4 Processor, the ability to have 1.5GB PC133 SDRam via 3 DIMMS and two dual 40GB Western Digital 7200RPM Drives.

Could this thing handle Windows 7 and Office 2010. Especially if I upgrade the graphics to something that meets Aero requirments. Not that I'll use Aero but a good GX Card does help performance.

The version I'm thinking of using is Windows 7 Professional. I know it wouldn't be a speed demon. However can it do basic tasks with similar performance to Windows XP on the same system. If so I got myself an excellent computer for basic tasks.

I tired putting win 7 on my old dell, 3.0GHz processor, 1GB of ram, on-board graphics and it was very slow.
You would have to go with a 32 bit version since 64 bit requires 2 GB of RAM but it would install, but performance wise ... very slow.
