bad motherboard or hdd? help

Hi, I've got a Dell xps 430 that didn't power on, i tried different outlets with no success so i changed the power supply and it turned on fine BUT it can't detect the SATA hard drive and optical drive, i've made sure that all connections were right, i've tried different SATA cables, I though the drives had gona bad so i connected a drive from another PC but it still won't detect it. The fan also works fine, i'm really going crazy.. could it be that the Motherboard drive controller went bad?

i get the code 0141 error (no hard drive detected)

Well, no wonder you get that error. Did you try different SATA ports? If more than 2 ports.

Also, did you try resetting BIOS?

yes i tried different SATA ports and tried removing removing cmos for a few mins, still not working
