Hey guys, im in the process of upgrading my computer to get ready form the fall for games such as Battlefield 3. I would like to run it at the highest resolution and fps that I can, and I was told that the frostbite engine that EA uses requires a quad core processor. So if you guys could help me pick one out that would be great, im looking to spend anywhere from 200-350 dollars. Here are my system specs and I would need a CPU to run on a LGA 775 board.

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (8 gigs now)

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

Geforce GTX 560 ti

OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

Ok, being 775, you are quite behind the times. I am not sure of those games, but I think socket 1156 or 1155 would be your better route. Though, you need a new board, CPU, and RAM.

I'm sure others will argue, but that is my 2 bits.

Ok, i know its a little old but i wouldnt mind upgrading my motherboard as well, any suggestions on one?

If you upgrade to 1155, 1156, or AMD's AM3, you need DDR3 RAM. And a new Windows installation.

I'm not sure about AMD CPU's as far as gaming. I'll let someone else get that.

You possibly could get a Q6600 or equivalent. I had a Q6600 and was playing SC2 on high. Now on 1156 i5 760, I can play it at Ultimate.

Firstly what mobo do you have?

Then go see if gettingva high end 775 quad is cost effective.

If its like 100 bucks more for a 1155 i5, or maybe A 1156 i5, then i'd rather spend to upgrade to a newer faster setup.
