i'm looking to buy a laptop for pretty much everyday computing. i dont really need it for gaming, just something that can run fast and handle multitasking well. I was looking at the hp envy 14 configs, and one had an i7 740 which was 1.73 ghz i think, and another had an i5 at something like 2.6 ghz. Can someone recommend one or the other for my needs?

This is basically personal choice, then... Ghz versus number of cores... I'd get the i7 over the i5. Quads are generally better at multitasking, but with such a large Ghz speed decrease, I don't really know.

It is usually best to buy the fastest that you can afford, unfortunately with Laptops there is usually quite a difference in price between an i3 and an i7. The "Envy" Line is more than you need for "everyday computing".

Since the AMD Llano was put on sale today it will likely help to wait a couple of weeks since the Intel prices are likely to drop.
