I'm wondering if this will all work together, and if I should change something. I'm a highschooler and my dad is going to help me build it. (I need to ask him ) I just want your input in this. I dont know if this counts as a gaming computer, eventhough my graphics card and other parts are for that (and i plan on using it for gaming occasionally)

Thanks

-Takumi

The Corsair Builder Series aren't the best, it's still better than most cheap power supplies but it's really only equal to a 450 or 460 watt power supply.

Yes, I would definitely recommend the Antec PSU, especially if you're planning to overclock...which I'm assuming you are since you got a 3rd party cpu cooler.

I mean, is there a problem with having too much power? Its a combo set so I save some money :/ Im not a hard core gamer, just want to be able to play...hm..SC2 or CoD

Is this any good? (OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom)
Newegg.com - OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom

ALSO. Im a highschooler strapped for cash. I might be able to get some used parts from my friends old rig if he decides to trash it. (He has some parts I want, like the RAM (2x4 G-Skill)

FYI, my Dell Dimension sucks so Im gonna trash it or something after I get this rig.

Should I buy a hm..50 GB SSD for my OS and programs and use this 250 HD i have in this dell for documents and whatnot?

I dont plan on overclocking. just have it to keep cpu cool. the inside can get hot real quick. can u guys recommend me a good case for all this hardware, somewhere in the range of 50 to 60 bucks. total budget is under 900 dollars

50gb SSD is just asking for trouble in my opinion. The OS takes up about 20gb (assuming windows7 home premium) which leaves about 30gb for all of your programs. I'm struggling to get all the programs I want on my 60gb drive on there...I'd recommend either waiting and buying at least 90gb ssd.

As for the PSU, I just bought the 700w version of that about a week ago and it's running good. Much, much quieter than my previous PSU that decided to whine when on heavy loads after 2 years...so yes, that's good.

The CPU comes with a good stock cooler that is just fine for non-overclocking...and it means the warranty isn't void...
