Hey guys. Here is my build:

1 x Cooler Master - CM 690 II Advanced Nvidia Edition Mid Tower

1 x AMD - Phenomâ„¢ II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz w/ 8MB Cache (Retail Box, Socket AM3)

1 x Cooler Master - Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler

1 x Arctic Cooling - MX-3 Premium Thermal Compound, 4g

1 x Gigabyte - GA-P67A-UD3-B3 w/ Dual DDR3 2133, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, CrossFireX

1 x Corsair - Dominator DHX+ 6GB DDR3 1600MHz CL8 Triple Channel Kit (3 x 2GB)

1 x Corsair - Dominator Airflow Fan for High Performance Memory Modules

1 x Seagate - 500GB Barracuda 7200.12 SATA III w/ 16MB Cache


1 x MSI - N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI

1 x Antec - EarthWatts EA 650W Power Supply w/ Triple +12V

A few notes:
-I plan to game
-Choose x4 965 to save money over i5-2500k
-Plan to do some light over clocking in the future

How does this look? Will it be a good gaming system for the next 3-4 years? Do I need the extra cooling I added?

Any input would be appreciated!

get the gtx 460 over the gtx 550 ti

Do you think it matters if I get it in 2's? I don't plan on upgrading the ram for a while (seems pointless).

What do you think about the memory cooling, Is it needed or not?

Do the rest of the components look o.k?

An AMD CPU will not work in an Intel motherboard.
memory cooling is not needed.
to be honest, good gaming system for the next 3-4 years? probably not

If this rig will not be good for 3-4 more years is it atleast somewhat future proof with am3 motherboard for bulldozer and room for another video card?

that video card is worse than the 560 ti. and the reason why i said it won't be a good gaming system is because 3-4 years is quite far out there. and i personally feel that there is quite a bit of renewed interest from developers recently on the pc platform, thus graphics are going to get better very soon. instead of getting all these ports from consoles with their 5-6+year hardware.

but see, once you take the inital plunge on your pc, you don't have to spend as much money as this time around. most likely just a video card upgrade next time.

But it's also $100 cheaper. It's better than the first he chose (550 ti).

youll save $40 if you go with the same case minus the nvidia branding, which makes me think that you could probably find a better case for the same amount of money, unless you really like/need that branding.

Which motherboard should I use (the gigabyte one cannot handle 1600 ram?) Does everything else look fine?
