Turn off your computer for half an hour then turn it on. Leaving your computer on - 24/7 - especially if not in sleep mode, will ruin your hard drive, ram, video card, psu, mainboard etc.. eventually. Is there any reason that you do leave it on? You know that you can sync your phone with your computer so that any messages will show in your phone.

You don't need to shut them down anymore...... I go for atleast a week and then just a reboot.... Plus my systems run near 100% loads 24/7.

My HD SMART reports perfect and its 4yrs old.

If you can boot it up in safe mode and it runs o.k., then you might need to look for a buggy driver issue. If you boot up in safe mode and you still have problems, then that would point more to a hardware issue. how old is the power supply? like posted earlier, run mem test to check the memory, down load and run hardware monitor to check your temps, volts. If you have an older motherboard, you may need to look at the capacitors to be sure they haven't "popped" open on you
