Hi new to this forum and I got a question about data centers

How does an IT Manager, or whoever in the company makes the decision of which data center to buy space in, select and or compare data centers?

Is it just pure cost per Kwat hour or cost of power usage or are there other fees that are associated with data centers that increase overall cost?

Theres a bunch of factors, they've also got to take into account security and facilities available e.g how much power can be accessed, what grade of network link they can get.

Geographic location is a factor if physical access to the centre is required or if a redundant DC with failover is needed you'll want it to be located far enough away from the other that they cant both be effected by something like a cable being dug up.
