Hi!

I"m looking for i7 processors 2630QM or 2620M!

When I build my computer on Dell website the 2620 processor is 100$ more expensive than the 2630 which is quad instead of dual like the 2620.

What explain that the dual i7 2620M is better than the quad 2630QM?

Thank you!

looks like they're just trying to scam people by the classic higher clock speed = better processor. The 2630qm is about twice as fast as the 2620m in synthetic benchmarks. The only thing that I can think of is that the 2620M offers better battery life.

But why the 2630m is 100$ more expensive if it is half better?

Is there a Performance listing of the "i" series intel processors?

sorry i misposted, the 2620 is slower than the 2630 by about 50%.

The 2630qm is faster and cheaper in the configuration, so don't even bother with the 2620m. It's either a typo on their part, or a marketing gimmick.

The only reason I can think that you would get the 2620m is if the battery life is better which is possible, but there isn't a lot of information out about the 2nd gen SB cores yet, or if you're going to be gaming because then the 2620m would be faster because it's higher clocked, and in applications that only use 2 cores it would be faster.

It comes down to what you're looking for the laptop to do.

How I plan to use it
AutoCAD -> 70%
Internet stuff -> 20%
Gaming -> 10%

i5 2500K is better than the i7 2830QM? His score is 500 points over the quad i7 2830QM!

The 2620M is half the score of the 2830QM and 100$ more expensive ... what a shame!!

Thank you vm!!
