Stupid Stupid cd-burner.

I have an Acer 12x8x32 cdrw in my computer. I have not used it for several months. Recently I decided I'd like to burn some cd's off. I plugged the cd burner in (it is an internal drive). The cd burner will not work.

I have a simple idea [maybe it works] to restore your old cd rw drive. Open the casing of your Drive , take a soft cloth and wipe out the dust around the lens.[you have to eject the tray before removing the case of your cd drive].

I guess this wud work

I always had problems with my DVD-ROM, its kinda old, and it doesnt read cd's after certain period. So I do the manuall cleaning stuff:p and voila!, the laser back in action ;)

Thanks for the idea. Since it isn't working I might as well take it out and open it up. I'll see how it goes.

Well, I opened her up and dusted it out. It at least tries to read cd's now, but doesn't quiet pull it off. I give up. I'm going to buy the Samsung CDRW/DVD combo drive for $35. Seems like a great deal as I saw the same drive at CompUSA for $70.

Thanks all!
