Hi, im building a computer for the first time and i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on what i need or if there is something better than what i have. i want to build a pc that can be abe to run most computer game on max or high settings. like worldofwarcraft and i know wow doesent take much but thats not the only game. if there is betters parts i can buy or missing parts please tell. my buget is probably around 1000 dollars.

You have put together a pretty good package. You might get more response if you did not present so much extraneous material about each part and instead include just the name, price and a link to the item on newegg.

CPU & mobo are good. I assume you have already confirmed that the memory is compatible with the mobo.

For a video card, I recommend the GTX 460 768MB card. It is a solid card that can be found at a discount right now because it is being replaced by the GTX 550 Ti, but the new card is slower. The 768MB version of the GTX 460 is only slightly slower than the 1GB version, but costs substantially less. See the slight performance difference in this article:

Note that on the THG Best Card for the Money article linked below, the GTX 460 1 GB is one of the cards recommended at the $200 price level. This card is almost as fast and as shown in the review above, and costs quite a bit less..

For a specific card, I recommend the MSI Twin Frozr because of its effective but quiet heatsink/fan, factory overclock, and good price – only $130 after rebate.

If you want a stronger video card, then go with the GTX 550 Ti or 560 Ti - depending on how much performance you want to pay for. You might find it helpful to talk a quick look at this site about upgrading video cards which has a guide to identfy system requirements and features affecting the video card and user preferences for features:

The PSU you selected is not recognized as a better brand - so I recommend changing it. The size of the PSU depends on whether you want to add a second video card or overclock the CPU or video cards. What do you want to allow for? I recommend a Corsair PSU - size dependent on your answers to the questions.

That article on tom's is a pretty good build for 1k. I'd second everything they recommend except the case (just personal preference, I think it's hideous) and the CPU cooler, as well as the 2500k.

If you're not going to overclock just get the 2500, the k is unlocked for overclocking. Also if you're not overclocking an after market CPU cooler isn't necessary. Also if you're not overclocking the extreme 4 is a bit overkill, you could get something around the $100 mark and have it be just as stable, and with the savings from everything else you might be able to get a faster GPU.

tech report has a pretty good build. TR's March 2011 system guide - The Tech Report - Page 6

get a slightly cheaper case, take out the sound card and replace the blue ray with just a regular dvd drive and youll have a $830 computer. add in a copy of windows and it looks like a pretty solid 6 core system under budget.

if youre buying a mouse, do you need a keyboard or monitor?

the i5 is faster than the 1090t and the 6950 is faster than a gtx 460 for for a bit less money it's a good viable option.
