CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz
Motherboard: EVGA nforce 780i SLI Socket 775
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Superclocked Edition
RAM: OCZ Reaper 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2x2048MB)
HD: 250gig (Will throw in fried 500gig I have laying around)
Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Gamer
NZXT Tempest Computer Case with blue LED's
DVD Rom with Lightscribe
Windows Vista 64bit Home Premium (Disks Included)

Also Includes:

HP 17' LCD Monitor
Logitech X-140 2.0 2 Piece Speakers
Razor Lachesis 4000 DPI Gaming Mouse (Incredible Mouse)
Microsoft Keyboard

I was just wondering how this rig will compare with modern games today... and how much is it worth today... are there any warnings of faulty hardware... like any hardware known for problems?

Any advice is helpful since i'm kinda noooooob

i think that the pc is fine, but i don't think it can run today's games at MAXIMUM graphics... you might have to get a new graphics card or just Sli it with another GTX260 for max graphics.... if not graphics and u just want to play it at like medium graphics, it should be just fine.

if you Sli it, make sure you're power supply can handle it or even support it...
