The GeForce4 Ti 4200 (both 64 MB and 128 MB) are pretty affordable right now, and with some overclocking, it can match the performance of its elder models.

Another recommendation, if gaming performance is not too much of a first priority, is the Radeon 9500 (Non-Pro) 128 MB, which can be "soft-modded" to a 9500 Pro/9700 by using Riva Tuner.

oh i thought you can only use that software with a riva card....so how well does it work with other cards?

Riva Tuner now supports the Radeon 8500/9x00 line as well.

The Non-Pro 9500 has the exact same core/memory frequencies as the Pro version, along with the features and such, just the difference is that the number of rendering pipelines has been reduced to 4 (unlike 8 on the 9500 Pro model).

By using the software, the other 4 "hidden" pipelines can be unlocked, however, this tweak will only work with the 128 MB model, and it's not going to work 100% of the time.

Even with only 4 pipelines, it is still capable of edging out a GeForce4 Ti 4200, with anti-aliasing/anisotropic filtering enabled.

LOL a good suggestion: Gainward Geforce 4 ti4200 golden sample :D It's $150 but still a very top of the line card can play games flawlessly and in a year you can overclock it to sweet settings :D

hi and thanks for the response just a bit confuse about all this overcloking the G-card its a site that explains how to do it or its a download software.

any more G-Card advise it would be great, i though i would have a mutch higher choice thanks anyway
