eSATA Help

I have an external enclosure that has eSATA on it. I have a eSATA front port on my case. I plug in the eSATA cable, and the external power. Wait, wait, wait... nothing.

Check to make sure it is connected, yes. Windows doesn't even notice it.

Am I doing something wrong? System specs in sig.
 
I think you need to have AHCI mode enabled in bios, with the appropriate raid/AHCI drivers for your disk controller.

If you don't have AHCI setup in your bios, you have to reboot to get it detected or scan for hardware changes in the device manager for it to detect.
 
OK, I got it all fixed up. Running AHCI now. Only thing I find odd, it will read my 2 x WD 640s (blue), but will not read my WD 1.5TB (black). :umm:

But USB works OK. So, whatever. Just an update...
