Carryin' and Chillin'

I should get my ASUS UL80 laptop tomorrow. I've been looking around for a laptop cooler/stand and a laptop backpack/bag/case.

Let's start with a cooler, shall we? I want the cooler to be lappable. Meaning, it won't be on a table 24/7. I have used Thermaltake pads in the past, and they work, but is it really helping with the temps?

Any other suggestions are welcome, ~$20 budget

How to carry a laptop around. Oh, the possibilities. I have no idea...
I do have a Targus backpack I got back in 2007. But that just isn't working for me anymore. I never broke a laptop using it, but it is not well padded as I'd like.
I need something slim, not necessarily a backpack. Maybe like a shoulder bag?
Shoout me some options, as there are many. ~$30 budget.

My cousin has the "Thermaltake Massive Cooler" and he likes it but his laptop just sits in one place all the time. It seems kinda big to carry around. On Newegg it says it weighs 2 lbs. Just seems kinda bulky to me. Anyway it is just my opinion.

Then I bought one like this:

I saw an Antec stand that looked a bit like the first one, kmote.

I have found out that the CPU doesn't go above 40C. I know that is only one factor of laptop heat. But sitting on my bed for a good 3-4 hours, my bed is just warm. I touched the bottom as well. It wasn't even uncomfortably hot to the touch.
