p4 3eghz normal running temp?

hello, i just got a 3eghz p4, and an asus p4p800-e board.
however, my bois tells me my cpu's temp is around 45°c-49°c. this seems high to me. i called the computer store i bought it from however they said that was the normal running temp for a 3gig processer and said that they can run up to something stupid high like 80°-90°max. id take their word for it since its a very respectable place, however im slightly concerned because intels website (as well as the yellow attention slip i got with my processer) states the normal run temp is at or below 38°c.


any thoughts on this? my system seems to run fine, im just slightly concerned about the heat.

oh and yes. i am using the default heat sync and fan. with the defualt thermal tape that the heatsync came with.

its OK, as AMD normally runs @ 55 (considered cool). and P-4 dissapate more heat then AMD, thus making it running at this temperature absolutely normal.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's a Prescott CPU that normally runs a little hotter anyways. Intel says that it can run reliably up to 69.1°C.
