I want to upgrade my computer with a beefer setup. Most of the stuff I do on my computer is cpu and ram intensive (gaming and lots of resource demanding software). This is my current setup:
Asus M3N78 Pro (hybrid SLI) motherboard with built in GeForce 8300
GeForce 9800GT
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
8 GB of OCZ SLI PC6400 DDR2 Ram (I think its 2 4GB sticks, out of 4 available slots)
Ive been considering the i7, as many have recommended it, but I dont know which one and if its compatable with my current setup. Looking for i7, I see a lot of versions..which would be best or would you recommend?
I use a lot of programs at once, and switch back and forth amongst them often. My computer sometimes has a hard time keeping up and paging back and forth, sometimes claiming its low on virtual ram.
I was originally thinking I needed more ram, but it looks like my ram allocations were not set to fully utilize all 8gb, resulting in cashe disks being created.
Would a faster, new processor solve a lot of these issues?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
