Well Just got my AMD 939 4400x2 system up and running. Stock HSF not cutting it, case too hot, heating up my room bad. Went and bought a Antec 100 case, extra 120mm fan and bought a scythe shuriken as per techs advise (despite reading reviews that showed it wasnt up to par) anyways at my 2.6 OC i was running 60*c. I hunted high and low looked around at all the stores and figured, nothing here is good enough and size that I want, Might as well jump at the Corsair h50 on-sale for 60$ compared to 80$ regular. (read good reviews good for entry level etc)
I searched google to see if mounting was the same between 939-am2-am3, but as i soon found out the 939 backing plate is two hole and not four. Seeing as i already bought it and hyped myself up about watercooling. I used an old board to figure out what i had to do to get that sucker mounted.
Apparently the retention bracket is MFG'ed through asetek and northq in EU. Found posts saying that corsair basically scrapped support for it as it is obsolete. OK I can deal with that. I found a guy who ordered 10 939 retention brackets, shot him a pm to try and get one from him, no reply as of yet.
939 brackets are available in the northq siberian tiger kits and asestek kit which IS the corsair h50 re branded MINUS an 939 bracket.... WOW lol

My purpose of posting is to show that if you want to, you can make it work.
I will cut to the chase. I tried flattening the stepped ears on the bracket to slot the holes and screw the whole assembly down. Anyways the 4 ears broke off after trying to use a vise and propane torch to straighten it out ( oxy acetelene torches would have done the trick here) (( I know the words oxy acetelene does not belong in a computer forum LOL)) Now that I had something to work with. Using the stock backing plate screws and some washers I was able to put it all together and clamp the pump head down. With the two screws and washers it is quite secure, and will not move or twist at all, no interference with capacitors, stock bracket etc.
So far running almost 24 hrs no problems, and NICE temps compared to the shuriken air cooler.
AMD 4400x2 OC'ed to 2615mhz running stable lots of head room.
Low #'s 36*c&38*c
Highest# 48*c&50*c
Idle temps and prime 95 @ 4hrs running
This is from coretemp. I still intend trying to push to at least 2.8 maybe 3.0 once i get my OC techniques down a bit better.
-Radiator is set up for Intake and both fans are Pull-Pull
Please save any bashing.. I know the pictures of how it is secured is "iffy" im sure alot of you would strangle me through the monitors if you could. I would like to revise this with a better hold down that will go over the corsair ring, cant be hard to make from sheet metal.
I hope that people can use this thread to their advantage, but we all have brains and can figure stuff out our own way if you can make it a little better all the power to you and would love to see it. Looks like no one has tried to mod this thing into their pc... Other than that the reviews cover installation pretty well

These pictures are of the am2/3 clip flipped over so you can see that with some more material or washers in my case, use them to cover the edge and hold the assmbley down, suprisingly the height of the cpu bracket works well with the corsair clip if it is flat, hence why i tried to flatten the legs and open the holes but it didnt work, they are stamped metal. You can see it will sit pretty much dead center and once flipped over and everything in place it will come together. The R&D Mobo is a gigabyte k8nsc-939, the one in my rig is a asus a8n sli SE which uses 6/32 machine screws to faste the backing plate to the front half. The gigabyte uses plastic no time use clips booo
