Fujitsu Lifebook A6030 went dark

Hello,

My laptop went dark today. Apart from absence of the picture, it appears to work just fine - Windows is making sounds. I suspect it's the video card because if I restart, it momentarily shows Fujitsu logo then Windows loading then logon icons. But all that only for a split of a second before it goes dark again. Seems like signal sync causing it to show something and then go dark again.

X3100 is the video adapter. If I am not mistaken, it's integrated, which means I have to change the motherboard. That's a gloom perspective

Any advice/ideas?

Can you try hooking it up to a monitor to see if it works? What you describe could just be the backlighting system in death throes. It could just be a driver issue.

Hmm... Now when you have said that, I think this has a lot of merit because at some point it looked like it was showing me something but at very low level, hardly visible. I wish it were driver but it's been working fine for quite a while until now. I'll hook it up to my TV and see if it helps. Let you know later. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yep... I can see everything just fine on my TV. So it's actually the screen I need to change, isn't it?

you need to replace either the back light or the ballast that powers the back light

That's a bit confusing. So it may not be even the full screen assembly? Because I was thinking about getting one from eBay: LAPTOP LCD SCREEN 15.4" FOR FUJITSU LIFEBOOK A6030 - eBay (item 130451996654 end time Mar-05-11 13:21:42 PST)

no it might be the screen but more than likely its the ballast its what the supply's power to the back light
