Alright.. so i have a phenom X4 9850 Black Edition and i'm pretty sure that i have a stock phenom II X4 heatsink, before today, it ran fine.
The RPMS were about 3200, and now are running at 5200+.. the processor temp seems to be fine, the temp is 44C, rising to 55C or so when i game..
anyone know whats going on?

when you're not doing anything processor intensive it downclocks and the fan won't have to run as fast ( i assume it's got a 4 pin connector on the fan) when it's running a game it clocks to full speed and then the fan speed goes up.

if it's annoying you then invest in a new hsf.

i know how it works.
But i'm talking about the fan going at 5200+ while just sitting at the desktop, nothing open. Literally just turned my computer on.

If a 3200rpm fan is spinning at 5200rpm then watch out as it won't last much longer and it will probably fly apart at high speed. And if it does it will probably damage anything close by.

If the fan isn't noticeably louder than it's probably a faulty sensor.

well anyone know good heat sinks?
For high performance and what not?
thats not to horribly high in price?

I'm a gamer,, and my computer is on all the time
