Download Speed Variation

Hi,

I have a netbook and a desktop both run windows 7 and connect to a router using wifi. when testing my broadband download speed on the netbook it achieves just under 7000kbps. The best download speed the desktop has returned is 400kbps the tests where performed in the same room in the house. I have tried changing the wifi pci card in the destkop for a usb dongle which made the results slightly worse if anything.

Hard wire the desktop if only for testing just to see what speed you get hard wired. If its still slow hard wired, something is likely wrong with your Windows install. If you get full speed hard wired, then I would blame the Wi-Fi adapter.

Are they both in the same place?

Does the desktop have somdething like torrent running?

u should consider ur hardware specs and the health of both ur laptop and ur destop pc.use ccleaner or tune up utilities for checking.
