Hi sir,

yes sir it could be like a chatroom where in we can throw questions and could possibly be answered by people logged in. you can create rooms seperating PC's, servers, networking and all other stuffs weher in a moderator specialist on specific room can handle queries.. I am just suggesting sir please don't take it negatively.

I and several others have asked for an IM box somewhere on the site, to the reply that it would be difficult to moderate - which makes sense, it's a lot harder to moderate stuff in realtime than in the format of a forum.

If a chat feature was open to any registered member then it would be wide open to any spammer who wandered through. If we set one up so that only established members (40+ posts) could use it then it would be worthless to those who would need it the most. It's a sort of "darned if you do, darned if you don't" situation.

For something like this I would recommend setting up a room on tinychat.com. The poster could say that he has set it up and just give the name of the room rather than the entire URL as the spam filter would moderate the post if a URL was present. But I do not see a chat/IM feature in the future here.

As trotter said we don't want spammers taking advantage, we go to great lengths on TF to keep spam down and I myself have recently been accused of taking it too far but apart from one or two manual spammers when was the last time you saw any spam on TF?

I have a chatbox at my site and it eats up a lot of cpu cycles. When it's being used the whole site slows down.

Using what system? A well-coded chat system shouldn't take up much of anything.
