Hi evryone,

I'm going to buy a computer that has the following specs:

AMD Phenom x4 965 black edition (quad core, 3.4 Ghz per core)
4 GB DDR 3
ATI HD 5830

I can ask to modify the computer before buying it.
I was wondering if it was a good idea to upgrade my RAM from 4gb to 6gb? (considering games in the future might use more than 4gb ram)
Or will my CPU or GPU be the bottleneck instead of the RAM? (in which case i'd better spend that extra money on a new graphics card maybe)

Thanks and cheers!

4GB has been the standard for sometime now. Toms Hardware did an article recently about this subject. For gaming, I believe you can see an increase in performance in numbers, but not necessarily a drastic increase in frame rate. You're better off putting that extra cash into your video card instead of more than 4GB of RAM. Now if you were gaming at 1920x1080 or higher, rocking that CPU overclocked, and a better video card, then I'd look into getting more RAM. But as for right now with your current configuration, that money is better put into your video card.

All of this is based on the assumption you're using this for gaming.

Agreed. By the time games require more than 4gb, your computer will probably be outdated and you'll need or have a knew one anyway. :D
